The purpose for going to Branched Oak was to look for shad and active crappie beneath. I found both but no action on live minnows and jig raps! Good news the boat still runs good at trolling speeds! Three and a half hours of slow fishing here was enough for me and the crazy’s with the noisy power boats and jet ski’s nuts are starting to overload the boat ramp, time to take my punches and go home! Checked for fall mushrooms on my way home at one spot - none yet!

Once I found some fish interested in biting, it became an interesting morning with a “mixed bag” of fish species. I caught a 22.5" walleye, crappies, F. drum, G. sunfish, bluegill, bass, white perch and numerous C. cats! And it was a sunny day so of course......I got a little sun and wind-burned (always wear the sunscreen! must reapply the stuff, once in the morning don't cut it) As the morning progressed the lake started getting really busy with people and boats but it was a great trip north of Lincoln to Branched Oak.
