Warm, Saturday morning for fishing at Branched Oak Marina Bay area, started out seeking Crappie off the breakwaters, found small fish biting minnows but nothing to brag about! Fun to catch and release small Crappies on light tackle. Change up, looked for Fiddler Catfish and tried a variety of baits - leeches, minnows, Canadian nightcrawlers, and shrimp on jigs and Satra Special rig.. Picked up 3 fiddlers on these Catfish fodder. Also caught 3 small F. Drum that seemed to like the jigged crawlers! Trip was a good one to work on getting outdoors and some good sunshine for mental health, a needed break from cutting pasture cedar trees. Always an adventure on the water! Checked for fall Bolete mushrooms on my way home, again, none found, I won’t give up!

This lake lacks anything for littoral zone habitat i.e. structure, lucky if you snag on something on the bottom of this lake, mainly open water fishing in the pelagic zone. Is and makes for a good Catfish lake. Abundant prey (small w. Perch) scattered everywhere in the water column for easy picking if you are a large predator fish like a blue or flathead catfish ! Winds never came up to the weather prediction magnitude, no Walleye chop!
