Once I found some fish, it became an interesting day with a “mixed bag” of fish species. And it was a sunny day so of course.... I got a little sun and wind-burned (always wear sunscreen!) As the morning progressed the lake started getting really busy with people but it was a great trip!
Best fishing in a long time for catching big Bluegill to 9.25” very good average size! The 20” Walleye was a nice bonus fish. New goal to find the bigger 12-13” crappie on the next trip to Wanahoo! Sure it will be a good trip!
Fishing for Walleye, but caught this monster Channel Catfish on a leech with a Slip Bobber on an Ultralight rod and reel. Caught some other fish this evening too - short Walleye and nice Crappie.
Early morning trip to beat the heat. Prairie Queen was was hot-not just the water at 80F on the surface. Caught Redear, crappie, bass and lots of bluegill. Standard stuff with swim baits, leeches and red wigglers. Found I could get down through the small fish by adding weight to the line and found some nice 8.5" Redear down in cooler water and deeper depths. Nice sunny morning with a light south wind.
I have been so busy with outdoor ice fishing, hunting, and trapping trips that I have neglected my web page. We made numerous ice fishing trips to the Valentine NWR near Valentine, Nebraska. Also, I guided trips to Lake Wanahoo, Wildwood, and Meadowlark. Here are just a couple of pictures of some nice bluegill and crappies.
